Meet the Team: Lewis Foster, Crafting Homes at Norwegian Log

Meet Lewis, our talented Fit Out Carpenter who’s been bringing warmth and character to Norwegian Log cabins for the past seven months. With his infectious enthusiasm and friendly demeanour, Lewis has quickly become an integral part of our team, transforming the interiors of our cabins into inviting, functional homes.

I had the pleasure of sitting down with Lewis to learn more about his journey, his craft, and what fuels his passion both on and off the job. His easy-going nature and dedication shone through in every word.

From Roofs to Refinement: Lewis’s Journey

Lewis joined Norwegian Log to support his family while continuing to run his own carpentry business on the side. Before this, he was self-employed, specialising in traditional carpentry—think roofs, doors, and frames. “I was working for myself, building roofs and doing all sorts,” Lewis shared. “I took a step back to join Norwegian Log, mainly for my family, to keep things steady.”

Now, as part of our fit-out team alongside colleagues Charlie and Sam, Lewis focuses on the finer details that make a cabin a home. “I handle the internals after the cabin’s built, kitchens, bathrooms, all the bits that make it special,” he explained. “The cabins turn out lovely, don’t they?”

A Carpenter’s Calling

Lewis’s love for carpentry began early. “I couldn’t sit in an office, I’m always on the move,” he laughed. “So, at 16, I went to carpentry college, trained for four years, and that was it. I’ve stuck with it ever since.” Lewis brings his hands-on expertise and a knack for precision to every project.

Life Beyond the Workshop

Outside of work, Lewis is an avid golfer with an impressive 8.7 handicap. “I’m mad about golf,” he grinned. “My dad got me into it when I was young, and there’s nothing better than a sunny day on the course with mates. It’s addictive!” He’s even got his colleague Sam hooked on the sport. When asked about his golfing plans, Lewis noted he’d be balancing work and play. “I’ve got my own business still, so this weekend I’m making oak shelves with strip lights for a pub. It’s a nice job, actually. But I’ll fit in some golf when I can.”

Crafting Homes, Building Trust

Lewis’s passion for his craft and his warm personality make him a perfect fit for Norwegian Log. His work on our cabin interiors ensures that every kitchen and bathroom is not just functional but a true reflection of the care and skill we pour into our homes. “The fit-out is all about the details,” Lewis said. “It’s what makes a cabin feel like home.”
