Responsible Roots: Why Norwegian Log Homes Are Built to Last

With energy costs continuing to rise, efficiency has never been more important. At Norwegian Log, our homes are designed to perform brilliantly in every season. Solid log walls, crafted to Scandinavian standards, are paired with advanced insulation to provide outstanding thermal regulation: naturally cool in summer, warm and welcoming in winter. The result is a home that’s comfortable year round while helping to keep running costs firmly under control.
Yet efficiency is only part of the story. Just as vital is the way in which we source the timber itself. Sustainability is not a slogan for us, it is built into every stage of the process.

Responsible Forestry: Grounded in Law and Good Practice
All of our timber comes from across Scandinavia, where forestry is governed by some of the strictest environmental laws in the world. Norway’s Forestry Act (2009) and Nature Diversity Act set out clear requirements for the responsible management of woodland, ensuring that:
- Every tree felled is replaced, either by planting or through natural regeneration.
- Forest owners must notify and work with local authorities before harvesting.
- Any damage to woodland must be repaired, safeguarding ecosystems for the future.
On top of this, Norway is adopting the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) through the EEA agreement. This legislation demands that timber and other key commodities entering the market are not linked to deforestation after 2020, and that supply chains are fully traceable and legally compliant. For our customers, this means complete confidence that the logs used in their home are responsibly and ethically sourced.

Going Further Than Compliance
We do not just follow the rules, we choose to go further. Our exclusive partnership with a leading Scandinavian manufacturer gives us complete oversight of our supply chain. This guarantees that:
- Timber comes only from well managed forests where biodiversity is protected.
- Every stage of production is transparent and accountable.
- Waste is minimised and carbon impact carefully managed.
Norway itself has taken a global lead by banning biofuels and products linked to high deforestation risk, such as palm oil. By aligning ourselves with this progressive approach, we ensure that our practices respect not only Scandinavian forests but also some of the most vulnerable ecosystems worldwide.

A Home with Lasting Values
Choosing a Norwegian Log home means choosing more than just comfort and craftsmanship. It is about living sustainably, with a home that reflects your values and stands the test of time.
Built to last for generations, our homes combine the strength and beauty of natural timber with modern innovation. Always sourced responsibly, always constructed with care.
