Meet the Team: Kieran Millard, Cueing Up Success in Contracts Management

Say hello to Kieran Millard, our talented Trainee Contracts Manager, who brings a wealth of hands-on experience and a keen eye for detail to his new role. While currently on a six-month trial in this role, Kieran has been an invaluable member of the Norwegian Log family for over seven years.
Under the guidance of John Hodgkinson, Kieran is honing his management skills and developing strong customer relations expertise. His commitment to professional growth is evident through the management courses he's already completed, with more on the horizon. Currently, Kieran is responsible for overseeing three of our dedicated build teams located all across the UK.
From Sawdust to Baize: A Journey of Craftsmanship and Precision
Kieran's affinity for hands-on work began in his childhood, nurtured by his grandfather's passion for carpentry. He fondly recalls early lessons in the garden, learning the fundamentals of the trade from hammering nails to understanding roofing principles. This early exposure instilled in him a deep appreciation for craftsmanship, a quality that resonates with the very essence of Norwegian Log homes.
Building Bridges and Log Homes: Kieran's Role at Norwegian Log
Currently in his fourth month of his trial, Kieran's days involve a blend of shadowing John, absorbing his wealth of experience in customer interaction and team leadership, and increasingly taking on independent responsibilities. This includes conducting site visits and base inspections, allowing him to connect directly with clients and understand the unique aspects of each project.
"It's been a really interesting change," Kieran explains. "Seeing the other side of the job, beyond the build itself, has given me a new perspective."
Supporting Teams Across the Nation
Kieran is currently responsible for three build teams spread across the UK: Paul Preston's team, Kieran and Sean in Bristol, Liam with our two Charlies, currently in Kingston, and Jimmy’s team with Sam and Rudi working in Oxford. He anticipates taking on a fourth team in the future to share responsibilities with John.
Managing teams across different locations presents its own set of challenges, requiring careful time management and clear communication. Kieran makes it a priority to visit each team every two to three weeks, offering support, addressing any issues, and ensuring smooth progress on their projects.
"It can be a bit of a juggling act at times, travelling between sites," Kieran admits, "but by planning effectively, I can ensure each team gets the attention they need."
Beyond the Workshop: Life Off-Site
Outside of work, Kieran enjoys the strategic game of snooker, a pastime he shares with his father during their regular Friday matches in Pangbourne. However, a new chapter in his life has recently begun with a move to Thatcham and the purchase of his first home. Currently, much of his spare time is dedicated to the joys and challenges of home renovation.
"It's certainly keeping me busy," he laughs, "watching the house slowly transform."
Kieran's passion for snooker extends beyond casual games with his father. He was previously a member of the Pangbourne team, competing in the local league. Due to the travel demands of his previous role as a team leader, he had to step away from competitive play. However, with his current role allowing him to be home more often, he's eager to rejoin the league next season.

The Strength of Our Team: Kieran's Long-Standing Connection
When asked what has kept him at Norwegian Log for so long, Kieran emphasises the strong sense of community and the way employees are valued.
"It's the people here," he says warmly. "Everyone is so friendly, and the company really looks after you. The social events, like the summer and Christmas dos, are always great for bringing everyone together."
He appreciates the supportive work environment, where the focus is on doing the job well rather than constant pressure. "There's a schedule, but you're trusted to manage your time and get the job done right. You never feel overlooked, which is a really good feeling."
Kieran's dedication, his growing expertise in contracts management, and his genuine appreciation for the Norwegian Log ethos underscore his value to our team. We take great pride in witnessing his development over the past seven years and eagerly anticipate his continued success in this new chapter.
