In the competitive landscape of sales, say hello to Harry Maynard, our Sales Manager and a dedicated athlete. Since joining the Norwegian Log family in July 2023, Harry has brought a winning drive and strategic approach to his role. From the moment you connect with Harry, you'll feel instantly that you're in safe hands.

Even in a few stolen moments amidst client meetings, Harry's passion for his job and assisting people in finding their dream log home shone brightly.

Swapping Bricks for Beams

Before joining us here at Norwegian Log, Harry spent a good stretch of time in the property world as an estate agent, clocking up an impressive innings since 2011. So, what prompted the move from bricks and mortar to the beautiful world of log?

As Harry explains, it was partly about stepping away from the "dog eat dog" side of hard sales and finding something altogether more rewarding. "It's a much more considered process here," he says, "you really get to know the clients, understand their vision, and build a proper relationship with them, even after their cabin is complete."

Interestingly, Harry points out the similarities too. "In many ways, it's still about helping someone move into a new home, just a different kind of home. But the big difference is the warmth and positivity. People come to us wanting something special, and it's a real pleasure to guide them through that journey, without the sometimes relentless pressure of traditional estate agency."

And in his time with us, Harry's already seen some great progress. He's particularly chuffed about the new fit-out room, which offers even more options for clients to personalise their spaces. Drawing on his background in new builds, Harry was keen to champion this, always looking for ways to enhance the client experience.

Sound Advice and Bespoke Visions

For anyone considering popping along to one of our Open Days or taking a tour of our showroom, Harry has some sage advice. While we'll cover all the nitty-gritty about the structure and planning permissions, he suggests giving some thought to the design beforehand.

"Think about how you want to live in your cabin," Harry advises. "Consider the orientation, the views, the layout. Because every single one of our cabins is bespoke. We've never built the same one twice! By having some initial ideas about the design, we can really tailor the conversation to your specific needs and start bringing your vision to life."

He emphasises that it's all about creating a space that truly reflects how you want to live, not just offering a standard model off the shelf.

Chasing Finish Lines: A Journey of Sport, Sales, and Self-Improvement

Away from the world of log homes, Harry's a big sports enthusiast. Football is his first love, and more recently, he's laced up his running shoes and become quite an avid runner.

Interestingly, Harry sees a real connection between the discipline of sport and the world of sales. "Definitely the competitive side of it," he agrees. "Whether it's on the football pitch or pounding the pavements, there's that drive to push yourself and strive to be better. I think that competitive spirit translates into wanting to do the best for our clients too."

And Harry's running isn't just a casual hobby; it's something he's deeply passionate about. He started running for the fantastic charity Brain Tumour Research after his father-in-law's diagnosis, taking on the London Marathon and simply falling in love with it. Since then, he's completed countless half marathons, 10ks, and 5ks, and has a seriously impressive list of marathons under his belt, both in the UK and further afield – Barcelona, Lake Garda, Reykjavik, Berlin, and Valencia to name just a few! Next year, he's planning on focusing on some UK-based races including Manchester and Swansea.

What does he love so much about it? "Probably the consistency and seeing the results of that consistency. It's also a great way to clear your head. Those early morning runs are my quiet time, just me and my thoughts."

Moments that Matter

When asked if any particular sale stands out, Harry reflects that they are all rewarding in different ways. "Everyone has their own unique circumstances and reasons for wanting a log cabin," he explains. "Whether it's for health reasons, to be closer to their family or animals, or simply to create their dream living space, it's always incredibly satisfying to see someone come to us with an idea and then see that idea become a reality."

He beautifully sums up the heart of what we do: "People often come to us at a time of need, with a dream that might feel a bit out of reach. It's a privilege to be able to offer that empathy and guidance, and to help them turn that dream into a place they can truly call home. It's certainly got a lot more heart to it than just selling bricks and mortar."

Harry Maynard is more than just our Sales Manager; he's a friendly face, a reassuring voice, and a knowledgeable guide who's dedicated to helping you find the perfect Norwegian Log home. With Harry on your side, you can be sure you're in excellent hands every step of the way. We're chuffed to bits to have him on the team.

It's warm and it's cosy; it's solid and it's quiet. The fragrance of pine reminds you of Scandinavian forests and summer evenings. Your imagination starts to take you places. You imagine a wood burner, perhaps a desk or why not just some space to think?

Our show home is 36 years old, yet customers still say it looks and feels brand new. That's the quality of our workmanship and the materials. When you step into a Norwegian Log building you're stepping into a feeling and just like our buildings it's one that will last.
