An ideal new home tailored to mum's exact needs
Rosie Lampard had to make decisions regarding the welfare and the wellbeing of her 83-year-old mother Aileen. Rosie explored all sorts of solutions to find a new home where Aileen could live close by and that could be navigated safely and easily in a wheelchair. It seemed an impossible task.
Intensive market research led Rosie to the show home at Norwegian Log Buildings, where she realised she’d found what she was looking for: a reassuringly solid building with ample scope for adaption for Aileen’s Granny Annex, including wheelchair access.
In her new home in the Lampards’ garden, Aileen has been able to retain her valued independence, while Rosie has the comfort of knowing that her mother is always within easy reach for care and socialising.
“We’ve been able to create an ideal new home that has been tailored to mum’s exact needs and fiercely guarded independence. The overall process was very smooth, and the outcome is exactly what we hoped it would be,” says Rosie.
“Norwegian Log was very helpful with an internal layout and specification that would enable my mum to navigate inside her new home. They gave us a great deal of time and support through the planning process, which was crucial to our success,” she explains.
“Another great advantage to choosing a Norwegian Log transportable log home is that they are zero-rated for VAT and exempt from building regulations, which helped us keep our investment down to a minimum,” notes Rosie. “And the building itself is very well insulated, which was important for mum for comfort as well as running costs.”
