Meet the Team: Jamie Rogers, The Man of All Trades at Norwegian Log

We're delighted to introduce a truly invaluable member of the Norwegian Log team, Jamie Rogers. As our Warehouse Delivery Driver, Jamie plays a crucial role, but his contributions extend far beyond that title. He's the hands-on support across all aspects of the site team, always there when we need him. With eight years at Norwegian Log, Jamie has travelled to almost every corner of the UK, always ready to lend his expertise.

I recently had the pleasure of catching up with Jamie to hear about his journey and experiences.

From Driver to All-Around Site Support

When asked about his role, Jamie's answer perfectly encapsulated his versatility: "Well, at the moment, I do mostly driving and the painting and snagging, but I've also built cabins for a long time. I also do interior sprays as well, so the UV protection on the inside whilst painting on the outside. So I'll do a bit of everything." Having worked for other cabin companies and as a multi-trade self-employed professional, Jamie joined Norwegian Log eight and a half years ago, drawn to the opportunity to continue working in a field he knew well.

Memorable Moments and Unwavering Adaptability

Jamie recounts a memorable job with John that exemplifies his adaptability. The journey involved multiple detours, from Reading to Wootton Bassett, then a dashed trip to Scotland, a pivot to Hexham, and finally back to Scotland to complete a cabin roof. He describes shingling in a sudden, intense hailstorm, yet remaining determined to finish. This ability to "adapt quickly, pick up straight away, and then move on," is why he's considered Norwegian Log's "Swiss Army Knife" – a go-to for any solution.

The Heart of the Team: People and Family

Jamie firmly believes that it's the people that make Norwegian Log such a special place to work. "It's a nice lot of people," he says. The understanding and flexibility he receives for family commitments are particularly valued. "They're understanding about my family commitments, especially with my daughter. I just need to give them a heads-up, and there's never an issue. This kind of flexibility is rare today."

He's also forged strong friendships, notably with Jamie Bennett, who lived with him for two years. "Made good friends out of him, and his daughter and my daughter get on like sisters, that's really sweet."

The Joys of the Job and the Norwegian Log Family

Jamie values clients who show genuine kindness, fondly recalling one who provided full fry-ups and tea daily – "a dream client." Having worked "everywhere" in the UK, his favourite places include Wales, Scotland, and the picturesque Charlestown in Devon. He also enjoys other scenic spots like parts of Kent and Sheffield, and doesn't mind the extensive driving required by his job.

Jamie thrives on the variety of his work at Norwegian Log, moving between sites and always ready to step in where needed. Outside of work, family is paramount. He fondly recounts meeting his wife, a keen baker, by bringing a purple rug and being won over by her cooking and cheesecake, leading to their marriage three years later. He cherishes the brilliant dynamic among his wife, daughter, and himself. 

Jamie Rogers is an absolute delight and a true Swiss Army knife for Norwegian Log. His incredible dedication, upbeat attitude, and impressive range of skills make him an indispensable and cherished member of our team. We're truly lucky to have his cheerful spirit and vast capabilities brightening our days.
