Garden log cabins give more space at home
Our garden rooms are the outstandingly practical, attractive and cost-effective way to give yourself extra space at home. The space you need for hobbies and crafts, a teenage den, an office or music room. Space to stretch out and enjoy your garden to the full, thanks to the Norwegian Log Effect™.
Our garden log cabin range is simple to understand, with models available to satisfy virtually all requirements. We can also help you make more of the space available in your garden, because our patented jointing system means we aren’t limited to walls at right angles. We can fit your garden room elegantly across a corner, for example, or in another nook in your garden.
Our Garden Rooms simplify planning
Our garden rooms are generally regarded as Permitted Development, so in most cases you won’t need Planning Permission.
What’s more, they all fall within the 30m2 floor area limit, so you won’t normally need Building Regulations approval, either.
You can read more about this in our guide, or contact us for straightforward advice.
Quick and clean installation
With our log technology, you can be enjoying your new garden room far faster than with traditional building methods. The way we work dramatically reduces the amount of time we spend on site, and we carry out all our work as cleanly as possible, with minimal disturbance. We really do appreciate that we’re working in your garden, which is precious to you in so many ways.
We usually deliver our garden rooms as relatively small components. If necessary, we can carry every component through a standard domestic doorway, giving us access to gardens where we can’t use a crane.
On some sites, we may be able to deliver our garden rooms as modules, which we pre-assemble in our own factory under ideal conditions. This reduces the time needed on site to just a few days.
Cost-effectiveness, speed and simplicity make our wooden garden rooms the sensible alternative to traditional conservatories and extensions. There’s no disruption to your main house. No need to find and coordinate builders. No messy conventional foundations.
Furthermore, consider how difficult it is to keep a conservatory warm in winter and cool in summer. Our eco-friendly garden rooms have a high level of natural insulation, thanks to the robust solid log, giving you comfortable year-round use with minimal running costs.
Packages from only £14,955
We’ll plan, design and install your garden room from only £14,955 inc. VAT. With all electrical wiring and heating included in the package, you won’t have to waste time and energy finding and coordinating the various trades. Instead, you have the convenience and simplicity of personal service from a single, responsive supplier.
We expect to install your garden room on a finished base prepared by your contractor. We’ll be happy to provide a detailed specification free of charge for the base. If you prefer, we can quote separately for preparing suitable foundations. We use a quick, clean and eco-friendly screw pile system that minimises site disturbance and the use of concrete.
Our packages can include facilities such as WCs and showers to help you make the most of your new extra space. We can also install comfortable suspended timber floors for complete comfort. We have decades of experience of meeting our customers’ needs, so we can tackle problems and offer exciting and lasting solutions.
Our Garden Room range
Our Garden Rooms range is easy to understand. The numbers in our model names simply refer to the nominal floor plan in metres. For example, our Garden Room 64 is 6m wide and 4m deep, viewed from the front.
Our Ekstra models have a single set of bi-fold doors centred neatly in the solid log front wall. Our Vista models are glazed across the whole front wall, and usually feature multiple bi-fold doors.
All our Garden Rooms are under 2.5m high. You can site them right up to a boundary without needing Planning Permission.
We also offer a Plus option, which is 100mm higher. Plus models naturally feel loftier. However, if you site one within 2m from a boundary, you might need Planning Permission.
Many customisation options
All our garden rooms are thoughtfully designed to maximise your enjoyment of your new building. However, we do recognise that you may prefer alternative features or fittings. That’s why we offer a comprehensive range of customisation options covering the electrical installation and joinery, such as:
- Air-source heat pump for heating, cooling and air conditioning
- Remotely controlled lighting
- Additional decking and internal walls
- Bluetooth speakers
Or completely bespoke
We can also offer you a complete bespoke design service, incorporating features such as a pitched roof with a gable glazed front or an elegant cat slide roof.
Most frequently asked questions
Do I have to prepare my own base?
If you wish. We’ll provide a drawing and specification for the base when we receive your order. Or we can handle it for you. Our service includes providing a quotation for the base and associated works once we’ve inspected your site.
Do I need Planning Permission for a building in my garden?
In most cases, no, provided it satisfies all the criteria for Permitted Development. Outbuildings are considered to be permitted development, subject to the following conditions:
- The outbuilding is not to the side of a house on designated land (includes national parks and the Broads, Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, conservation areas and World Heritage Sites). Note that outbuildings are permitted development within the grounds of a listed building.
- The outbuilding is not forward of the principle elevation of the original elevation of the house.
- The outbuilding and other additions must not exceed 50% of the total area of land around the original house. Sheds and all other outbuildings and extensions to the original house must be included when calculating this 50% limit.
- The outbuilding must not itself be separate, self-contained living accommodation.
- The outbuilding is single storey with a maximum eaves height of 2.5 m and a maximum overall height of 4 m with a dual pitch roof, or 3 m in any other case.
- If the building is within 2 m of the property boundary, the whole building must not exceed 2.5 m in height.
- Any veranda is no higher than 300 mm.
We strongly advise that you check with your local Planning Office before proceeding. If you want to avoid all planning issues, take a look at our Contemporary buildings. They feature a different, distinctively contemporary, look, and fall within the 2.5 m height limit for planning close to boundaries.
Can you construct to my own design?
Provided the main component of the building is log, we can build a structure of almost any size within reason, and for a wide range of applications.
“I wanted a gym, space for entertaining and a playroom – our Garden Room does it all. We were even able to have a tool store attached. It looks delightfully elegant, yet it’s so strong and solid.”
“Modern, open – fits our type of house and all our criteria. It’s so light and airy… makes me even more creative. So impressed with the building team, construction had very low impact on our lifestyle. Superb workmanship.”
